The work was part of the 13th anniversary group show at Paradigm Gallery, titled “Lucky 13”, exploring themes of luck and superstition and the traditions around these concepts.

I have used elements from traditional Bulgarian embroidery,which are always placed on specific parts of the clothes and have a protective function as well as aesthetic. The power of the symbols is enhanced with the use of red string, which is a common in many traditional beliefs to protect. I have also transformed those elements to form a shape resembling a shield.
