This work is inspired by some of the traditional Bulgarian motifs and beliefs.
A hooded woman figure is a widely recognisable image, however the hair covering specifically has always been very interesting to me. It certainly carries a mystical connotation and often leaves a feeling of veiled secrets.
It is believed that hair is a conductor of the natural forces and the longer it is, the stronger the force is.
Removing the cover is done during rituals requiring the use of natural magic. The person involved in this becomes a vessel for the raw power and the hood can be considered as a mark of those people.
